Volunteering

National Office Volunteers

As a not-for-profit charitable organisation we rely on the support of individuals and organisations who can give their time to help us in the office or provide professional services on a pro bono or at cost basis.

By providing expertise on this basis you can help the team here at DSNZ to free up our time and resources so that we can concentrate on developing, funding and providing the on-snow programmes and activities which make such a difference to the people with disabilities we work with.

Areas in which we are currently seeking assistance include administration, fundraising, accounting, marketing, publicity, web development, photography, filming & editing. Please contact us for more information.

Volunteer with your Local Branch

All regional branches of Disabled Snowsports NZ require the assistance of volunteers to help run their programs. Volunteering can be an extremely rewarding experience and can involve:
- Providing on-snow assistance to branch members
- Helping organise and run fun events and trips to ski areas
- Assisting with fundraising
- Assisting with general planning and organisation

If you are interested in volunteering contact your local branch or our national office

Volunteer at your Local Mountain

Several mountains around the country run Adaptive Snowsports Programmes. These programmes rely on volunteers to provide on-snow assistance and help clients with disabilities to have an exceptional snowsports experience.

Becoming an Adaptive Snowsports Buddy can be demanding but extremely rewarding, an ideal volunteer would:
- Enjoy the mountain environment and have a passion for snow sports
- Be up to the challenge of working with people with physical and intellectual impairments
- Be physically fit
- Have an open minded approach and willingness to learn
- Be a good communicator
- Enjoy working with others
- Have a passion for empowering others
- Be a strong intermediate skier or boarder proficient on all pisted terrain and lifts

Applicants should note that these are unpaid positions and volunteers are expected to provide their own transport to the mountain and personal ski/boarding equipment. Training is provided throughout the season. Opportunities currently exist at The Remarkables, Cardrona, Snow Farm (nordic) and Mt Hutt (via the Canterbury Branch), Whakapapa. If you are interested in volunteering contact your local mountain or our national office
